**Organizational Structure of the Kaohsiung City Education Bureau**
At the top of the organizational structure is the **Director-General**, followed by **two Deputy Director-Generals** and a **Chief Secretary**, as well as **two Senior Specialists**. The organization is divided into three major sections:
**1. Departmental Units **include Division of Senior High School Education, Division of Junior High School Education, Division of Elementary School Education, Division of Early Childhood Education, Division of Special Education, Division of Social Education, Division of Engineering Management, Division of Physical and Sanitary Education, Division of Information and International Education, Inspector’s Office, Personnel Office, Accounting Office, Civil Service Ethics Office, Campus Security Office, and Secretariat Office.
**2. Affiliated Institutions and Schools **include Municipal senior high schools, Municipal vocational high schools, Municipal junior high schools, Municipal elementary schools, Municipal special schools, Social Education Center, and Family Education Center.
**3. Task-Oriented Teams** include Compulsory Education Advisory Group, Student Counseling Center, Special Education Resource Center, Gifted Education Resource Center, International Education Center, Education Network Center, Indigenous Education Resource Center, Bilingual and Digital Learning Promotion Office, English Education Resource Center, Remote Area Education Resource Center, and Scout Education Development Center.
The Present Situation of City Education
Missions of Education Bureau
**a) Division of Senior High and Vocational Education:**
The mission of this division is to promote multiple school-entrance programs, to strengthen developmental features of senior high schools and vocational schools, to improve discipline and counseling task and career education, to promote skill and technique education, to advance international education, and other associated affairs.
**b) Division of Junior High School Education:**
The mission of this division is to organize teacher audition and transference and principal election of junior high schools, to upgrade teaching, to manage evaluation of teachers’ professional development, school evaluation, to take in charge of the construction of friendly campus, science education, marine education, school construction, and other associated affairs.**c) Division of Elementary School Education:**The mission of this division is to organize teacher audition and transference and principal election of elementary schools, to be in charge of local education, reading education, art education, science education, teachers’ professional growth, school evaluation, students’ entertainment camps during winter and summer vacation, school construction, and other associated affairs.
**d) Division of Early Childhood Education:**
The mission of this division is to cope with education subsidies for the disadvantaged children, to promote the integration of kindergarten and child-care centers, to enrich campus equipment and facilities, to reinforce school safety, protection, public security inspection, and other associated affairs.**e) Division of Special Education:**The mission of this division is to manage special education (gifted education and physically/mentally challenged education) and education affairs associated with creativity.
**f) Division of Social Education:**
The division is in charge of affairs associated with supplementary education and continuing education, promotion of life learning education, education of art and language, volunteering of schools of all levels, traffic safety education and educational, activities promoted by social education organizations of all levels.
**g) Division of Physical and Sanitary Education:**
The missions of this division include: organizing physical education of schools all levels, co-organize social, recreational and civil physical activities, taking care of lunch and drinking water, consumer cooperative, consumer protection education, environmental education, gender equality education, students’ health check-up and group insurance, emergency education, prevention and control of infectious diseases, and affairs associated with health and hygiene improvement.**h) Division of Information and International Education:**The mission of this division is to organize education website construction, to renovate computer classrooms, to execute information embedded in education, U-Campus, e-school bag, future school, innovative school, to shorten digital divide, to construct digital learning corridor, and affairs associated with educational technology and information education.
**i) Campus Security Office:**
The mission of this division is to promote e-official document, file management, property management, venue management, vehicle management, management of staff and workers, construction bidding, money receipts and expenditure, educational e-news, to set up city contingency center to collect catastrophe news, and other related affairs.**j) Inspector’s Office:**The mission of this division is to supervise city schools of all level, to establish full-time education advisory group for public education, to organize teachers’ continuing study and learning, and to strengthen teachers’ professional growth.**k) Military Education Office:**The mission of this division is to manage national defense education of students from all levels of city schools, life counseling, campus security, Anti-drug Project, student volunteering and substitute military service of education.**l) Civil Service Ethics Office:**The mission of this division is to organize corruption prevention, promotion of ethic laws, civil servants’ property declaration, maintenance of official confidential information, damage or destroy prevention, and other affiliated affairs.**m) Accounting Office:**The mission of this division is to be in charge of annual budgeting, accounting and statistics, and other associated affairs of the city bureau and affiliated schools.**n) Personnel Office:**The mission of this division is to be in charge of following affairs: school personnel establishment, employment, dismissal, and transference, performance appraisal including reward and punishment, training and continuing education, trip or leave regulation, retirement and compensation, payment and welfare, personnel information, and other associated affairs.
